• Congratulations! To IM Tim Laverty from Graham, NC and Teal Stanley of Greensboro, NC as Co-Champions of 2014 Burlington 11-Man Open State Tournament.  A 11-Man State Co-Champion Trophy was presented to both Tim Laverty and Teal Stanley at the close of the tournament.
• Congratulations! Mike Ross from Burlington, NC as 3rd Place Winner.
• Players were welcomed to Econo Lodge Hotel by a nice check in counter display sign announcing "Welcome !  2014 Burlington 11-Man Open Checker Tournament"
• GM stands for Grand Master, IM for International Master, and CM for Candidate Master, which are earned titles given to distinguish players by WCDF.
• We played 5 Rounds of Round Robin which allowed this small group of opponents to play all other opponents in a Single 11-Man Class of 1½ hours per a 2 game round.  We started at 9:00 am and finished at 6:00 pm Saturday evening. Our attendance was down this year (one less than last year) which may have been because of Father's Day weekend.
• Tim Laverty showed me a way to schedule round robin without an on-line generator or scheduling chart. Although for larger groups use this site http://tournamentscheduler.net/ for scheduling & printing round-robin tys.
• "T" separates player's opponent from player's game points.  Draw is 1, Win is 2 points,  Bye is 3, and Forfeit is 4.
• ACF Rating - supplied by ICH Checkers www.icheckers.net, processed by JR Smith
• Playing Rules were posted on the bulletin board, as well as: tournament schedule, pay-out schedule, up coming checker tournaments, a list of all the NC State 11-Man Champions, and a list of local restaurants were all there on the back wall.  Time clocks, game recorder sheets, and extra pens were available on the back table for those players who wanted them.
• There was a $20 entry fee which made our entry fee of $120 plus a generous donation from Joe McDaniel of $200.00 which made our total prize fund of $320.00. It was announced in our business meeting that Mr. Daniel contributed to this tournament.
• An 11-Man Deck & System Poster Board was displayed at the tournament by Gayle Smith.  You can review the 11-Man Time Line here.
• We appreciate the cookies, cheese, cracker, & chips, and drinks furnished by JR and Gayle Smith.
• We want to thank Econo Lodge for hosting our tournament. They opened the playing room at 6::00 pm Friday evening and 7:00am Saturday morning for early registration and a practice session, provided hot coffee during tournament. A nice continental breakfast for those how stayed there during the tournament.
• We want to thank Tim Laverty for scorekeeping and refereeing, JR Smith & Teal Stanley for sponsoring the tournament, and especially Joe McDaniel for promoting this checker tournaments.. .
